The project responded to the need to introduce new approaches to the interpretation of cultural heritage in order to engage increasingly discerning visitors in an attractive way, both in the Czech Republic and, in particular, in Austria. As part of the project, workshops and expert meetings were held focusing on the interpretation of historical and cultural heritage, exhibition development, and design, including the transfer of know-how and examples of good practice provided by the curator of the museum exhibition at Atzenbrugg Castle in Austria.
The main outcome of this intensive collaboration among experts is an interpretation plan and a design concept for the future exhibition at the Gustav Mahler House in Jihlava.
The project also included the purchase of musical instruments for the music playroom at the Gustav Mahler House and the modernization of the website presenting the legacy of the Czech-Austrian composer Gustav Mahler (www.mahler.cz) in Czech, German, and English.
The Austrian project partner also expanded the website featuring a map of museums and places associated with music (AREAACZ.EU) to include the newly enhanced exhibition at the Gustav Mahler House in Jihlava.
The project was co-financed by the European Union through the Interreg Austria–Czech Republic Programme, Small Projects Fund. The project partner of Brána Jihlavy was the Austrian organization Museumsmanagement Niederösterreich GmbH.
