The exhibition on the 2nd floor of the Gustav Mahler House is dedicated to the lives of Gustav Mahler, Alma Mahler, and their contemporaries.
The exhibition spaces present the themes “Gustav Mahler and His Time” and “Alma and Gustav”, offering insights into their personal and artistic lives as well as Alma’s connections with other significant creators. Visitors can learn about personalities such as the writer Franz Werfel and the architect Walter Gropius.
The exhibition also introduces other important figures of the period’s artistic scene, including the designer and architect Josef Hoffmann and Alma Mahler’s father, the Austrian painter Emil Jakob Schindler.
The space is dominated by a bronze bust of Gustav Mahler by academic sculptor Milan Knobloch.
