Gustav Mahler, one of the foremost composers and conductors at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, spent his childhood and youth in Jihlava, where he lived for fifteen formative years. It was here that his profound relationship with music and culture began to take shape. The city of Jihlava honors Mahler’s legacy through the Gustav Mahler House and the International Gustav Mahler Festival – Music of Thousands, which annually brings leading performers to the city.
